Too many ads
As far as the dictionary goes, I would give this app 4 or maybe even 5 stars. I like the pronunciation guide and the audio feature to hear the word aloud. Definitions are clear and examples are plentiful and useful.
Etymologies are present and complete, giving deeper insight into meanings and providing connections to related words.
In addition, synonyms and antonyms are suggested where applicable.
So, why only one star?
At first I was very pleased with the app. Seeing a few ads along the way was expected. After all, it was free...to me. However, not only is there an ever-present ad strip at the bottom edge, ads are now embedded in the middle of definitions. If that were not enough, a full screen ad often pops up when following links or looking up other words.
Finally, the ad strip at the bottom sometimes obscures information about a word. Embedded ads can block information as well. On one occasion I scrolled down to the secondary usage of a word (definition #2) and it was completely blocked. It did not appear after the ad; it simply did not appear.
For me...it is no longer enjoyable, but frustrating and marginally useful. Ill go back to a book before using this app again.
